Belanglo Luminaire
Snappy Gum, copper, steel, LV luminaires - Light sculpture
I made this as a wedding present for friends. The wood comes from the southern highlands, I sourced it from the bush. These trees are called snappy gums, because that’s what they sometimes do. A close relative of snow gums. It was fun to make, in the evenings after work. I burned out the inside of the wood and waxed over it, wrapped the top in copper and soldered it on, and bolted it to a heavy base of ancient perforated steel from my friend Peter Gray’s workshop.
