Mark McClelland Sculptor

profile

Mark McClelland is a Sydney based artist, designer, creative director and consultant.

Mark’s current practice as a sculptor draws from a lifetime of creative experience and observation, starting with his early work as a rural fencing contractor and bush carpenter. During that period of his late teens and early twenties, often working alone in relatively remote locations, Mark learned how to improvise with basic materials to get things done under difficult circumstances. More importantly, that time cultivated in Mark a way of seeing and interacting with landscape that has remained with him all his life.

After a period of study, Mark  founded his creative practice DesignTroupe, and went on to win multiple awards for creative excellence with his teams as the company became one of the most admired practices in its field in the Asian Pacific region. DesignTroupe later became part of GPJ.

Mark has undertaken extensive training under master practitioners in wood and metals, and has studied both design and art. In developing a sculptural practice as his principal means of creative expression, Mark interweaves these experiences with his lifelong interest in the ways in which people respond to landscape and his considerable experience with three dimensional design and making.

Mark McClelland also undertakes consulting work, commissions and collaborative projects.
