consulting

commissions and collaboration

Building a leading design consultancy, studying across creative disciplines and developing an awarded art practice have equipped Mark McClelland well for commissions and collaborative projects.

Mark has absolute familiarity with the processes of working to a brief, working to deadlines and budgets, working accountably and collaborating within teams. Mark brings these practices to his consulting and client driven projects along with well developed expertise working across cultures and disciplines.

As founder and director of DesignTroupe, (later GPJ), Mark has worked within and led teams across the Asian region as well as in Europe and North America and worked with clients in sectors as diverse as automotive, sport, IT, entertainment, telecommunications, as well as major cultural and public events like the Sydney Festival and Olympic Games.

These experiences have given Mark a unique perspective on collaboration. While the singularity of the artist’s vision often leads to extraordinary and expressive art-making, there are many cases, particularly those of greater complexity, in which the diversity of a collaborative team is required to produce a result appropriate to a particular brief or public art requirement.

With a professional design background, natural instincts as a creative director, training as a material led maker and an active art practice, Mark successfully navigates between these worlds. Caring little about the divisions between disciplines and finding excitement and opportunities in the areas where they meet and cross-over Mark, brings creative diversity and experience to consulting, collaborations and commissions.
